Could it be a dream?

While growing up, we were asked to be focused and be serious about life. It is like study well, land in a job, get married, have kids, buy a house etc - you know that's how we are supposed to take life seriously. But once the growing up is done or when the society has given upon you because you are not following the so called "serious" path of life, what happens next?

In my case, I am more into unraveling my consciousness and curiously questioning my own decisions. For example, as part of the meditation I am doing these days, I am supposed to attribute a dream like quality to life by asking " Could it be a dream? ". They say it is necessary because otherwise we end up taking life too seriously.

My question is where is the fine line between taking life seriously and too seriously?

After a lot of "growing up" that has been forced on us, how do we get back to the playfulness? How do we feel light? When I think about it, only very few people could bring out the lighter side of me. If I am left to my own devices, I will be too tightly wound. I wish there is a way to let go of the baggages that weigh me down. I am still looking for the answers.

I am not sure if asking "Could it be a dream" will bring the light headedness to my life. But what's wrong in trying?
